Playgroup Open House
Friday, October 3rd from 9:00am - 11:00am
Fairfield Woods Library, 1147 Fairfield Woods Rd

Come join us for some friendship, fun and playtime with your little ones. New playgroups are forming all year long. Participating in a weekday or weekend playgroup is a great way to meet new people, learn about area parks and family fun activities, as well as encouraging group play for your child(ren)! We also offer weekend playgroups for working parents or those just looking for something fun to do on a Saturday or Sunday! Weekend playgroups often meet at a public place such as playgrounds, beaches and museums. If you are interested in learning more about playgroups, joining a playgroup, or just want to get out and chat with other local moms, please stop by! Light refreshments will be served, and feel free to bring the little ones.

This is a FREE event, however, you must be a member of the Welcome Club to join a playgroup. Please contact Loren Williamson or Paula Cunningham for more information.

New for Fall!

Grasmere Eldercare Visits
Have you been thinking of ways to get involved in community service? Starting in November, the Welcome Club will be planning monthly visits to Grasmere Eldercare Center, an Adult Day Center in Fairfield. Check out the November newsletter for details on dates/times. This will be a wonderful opportunity to introduce your family to the value of community service in a fun and friendly atmosphere.

Pre-Schooler Language Classes
Are you interested in your pre-schooler learning a foreign language? Experts say that “Exposing your young child to a second language allows that child to optimize his or her learning potential, helping to shape the brain at its most flexible stage.” Recent research has found that bilingual children are much more likely to get top-grades on exams in all subjects and bilingual children also find it easier to learn new languages. Classes will be offered in Spanish or French once weekly in the homes of participating parents.

Save The Date!

Casual Gourmet - Harvest Moon Festival
Saturday, November 15th at 7:30pm
Casual Gourmet gatherings promise an evening filled with good food, great conversations and lots of fun. In early November, we will take advantage of the local seasonal produce to create a savory feast. We are looking for potential hosts for this event and future dinners, if you are interested, please let us know. We make hosting very simple! For those of you not familiar with Casual Gourmet, this is how it works: CG coordinators will plan a themed menu, coordinate with the hosts and provide participants with the recipes. Each participant prepares one part of the themed menu and brings it to the home of the host where the meal is shared. At the end of the meal, the total cost of the meal is divided evenly between all of the participants. Typically, each shared dinner will have 8-10 participants.
